Week 3 Placement Coaching Blog
During my third week of placement I wanted to acquire information about Links website. To do this I created a survey using eSurveyCreator, which is a free website that allows the user to analyse and collect data. The aim of this was to increase the traffic to the website and increase the number of likes on Facebook and followers on twitter.
Furthermore I developed the idea of adding video clips of sports that can be played at home to the Links website. This would incorporate cricket games such as One Bounce, Drop Zone and football games such as Wembley, One Bounce and Headers and Volleys and many more to the webpage. The aim of this is to reduce the overall bounce rate of users of the Links webpage. This results in people becoming increasingly engaged in the information on the page and stay on the website for longer.
During this time I managed to get a article in to the Sheffield Telegraph, as a result of this Links received an email about skateboarding in schools.
Moreover during this week I went in to various schools and coached a variety of sports. These included lacrosse, basketball, athletics and tennis sessions at St Marie’s primary school and Holgate Meadows Community School with years 3 to 6.
Throughout my short time on placement I have developed many transferable skills, these include communication and time management skills which have been developed while helping coaching sessions. To add to this I have developed media skills throughout using video editing software and work press.
During this week Links SSP ran a sport relief event which was held at EIS, this involved running, jogging or walking a mile around the indoor track. Children from Seven Hills school, Phillimore primary school and Emmaus primary school took part in the event which raised £200 for sport relief.
