Ready, Steady, Coach!
The Ready, Steady, Coach! programme is run in partnership with Sheffield Hallam University. It was developed to provide additional Fundamental skills coaching for Key Stage One (KS1) children across our mainstream and specialist schools as well as offering the first year Hallam Sports Students a high quality training programme linked to real volunteer opportunities. The programme will be going into it’s nineth year in the 2016/17 academic year.
The programme has provided over 4000 hours of fundamentals coaching for KS1 children over the eight years it has run and will provide another 500 hours in the coming school year.
The students are all CRB checked, receive Safeguarding and Protecting Children training, carry out a risk assessment seminar, and complete a comprehensive Fundamentals training package. The students then go into schools and complete a minimum of 6 hours of coaching completed over a half term in school. At the end of the coaching the schools are invited to a Free Festival of Sport at the EIS, which is organised, and run by the students. This event is always great fun for the school children, staff, and students.
